The IKEA project

Please note that this project is part of an assignment and it is intended for academic purposes only.

For the Digital Media class I needed to create an e-learning project for IKEA using Adobe Captivate. The objective was to create the learning experience using the information on the IKEA 2016 Sustainability report. The teacher assessed consistency, branding and navigation of the e-learning. We did not need to write learning objectives, since all the information was pulled our of the report.

To create the assets, I used Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. I decided to use mainly pictures and my source of inspiration was the IKEA catalogue. The colors and fonts were pulled from the IKEA style guide and the report. This was a very challenging project that I learned many principles of design that help the learner to have a smooth experience.

The Artificial Intelligence and Art  project

Please note that this project is part of an assignment and it is intended for academic purposes only. The school name and  target audiences are fictional.

For the Interactive Instruction class our group's task was to create an e-learning to teach about artificial intelligence. The requirement was to use Adobe Captivate and a platform called Didacte. The group needed to decide on the target audience and the learning objectives, and then create the project from scratch.

We decided to teach 6th grade students about artificial intelligence and art. Their main goal was to create a piece of art sing the NVIDIA GauGAN website, an A.I. that transforms a doodle into realistic images. The course was to be taken in about 30-40 minutes in a school lab, so we decided to do micro-learning units. Also, students would need to define what is A.I. and how it relates to art.

All assets were created and/or edited using Photoshop and Illustrator. Videos were pulled from the web.

The Fake News interactive documentary

Please note that this project is part of an assignment and it is intended for academic purposes only. Images and videos related to the Brazilian 2018 presidential election were pulled from the internet. Interviews were conducted following strict standards.

For the second assignment of our Interactive Instruction class, our group's task was to create an educational interactive documentary. Our topic was fake news and we needed to decide how to approach it. The group decided to use the Brazilian presidential election in 2018 as a background context to talk about how fake news could affect a democracy and some possible ways of addressing this issue. The requirement was that we interviewed people and used Klynt to build the project. We would also need to learn video capturing and editing skills and to create the look and feel of the project using Adobe suite tools.

We decided to interview both subject matter experts in fake news and some Brazilians to bring their voices as citizens to the project. We decided to give users two choices: a sequential, storytelling approach, with chapters to watch, or small micro-learning snippets about specific topics related to fake news. We though it was important to create a separate section for "what we can do about fake news" to highlight it is important to act on it.

The project was supposed to be all collaborative - everyone learning to do everything. However, as COVID-19 hit, university was closed right after we had finished writing our learning plan and storyboards. Our group came up with a new strategy very fast and teacher authorized Skype/Zoom interviews, being aware that we needed to compromise on quality. To be able to complete the project from home, our group separated roles according to access to tools: one had video editing, one worked on assets (pictures, fonts, buttons, background of the project). I was responsible for finding video and image assets related to the Brazilian elections, narration of the project and information architecture. I also wrote the "Learn More" section of the chapter videos.

Overall, I am very proud of what we accomplished considering the times that we lived during this project.
